Will this cure cancer?

MarkedwardsI opened my mailbox today and got excited. Sitting on top, staring me right in the face was a headline advertising a cure for cancer.

I grabbed it eagerly; it looked like big news. Questions spun in my head as I flipped through the pages to read more:

Is the media finally reporting on one of the known natural cancer cures?

If not, were the pharmaceutical companies really allowing an effective cancer-fighter on the market?

Was I dreaming?

The answer to those questions was no. I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up…

Turns out, they haven’t found a cure for cancer, or even a new and effective drug. Saying the headline had exaggerated is an understatement… The mentioned cure turned out to be as real as a unicorn.

Sigh.

All the fuss was over bioengineers and doctors. They are working together for the first time in history. Their purpose is to find new ways to kill cancer, chemically.

These new teams are being called ‘the answer to our prayers,’ and ‘an exciting breakthrough.’ Exciting? I mean, I’m glad these specialists are working together, it makes sense. So much sense, I can’t believe it was done only a few years ago for the first time.

Oncologists study cancer. Bioengineers who specialize in oncology study cancer. The two go together as well as Batman and Robin. Why did it take so long to make this partnership happen?

Traditional cancer research is done more independently and is more of a personal project. There is one primary specialist who does everything. They apply for grants to fund the study. The specialist gets top billing on all published research. They also get most or all of the credit for the study’s results, including major breakthroughs. It’s a desirable prize and it invokes an intense spirit of competition. The top cancer specialists are usually rivals. And the winning study is the one with the most published papers.

That’s because research papers are the grant organization’s deciding factor in choosing a project to fund. This can become a self-defeating cycle.

So you see the problem: people were more competitors than colleagues. Winning became the focus of cancer researchers, instead of saving lives. To deter this, the dream team idea was born.

Who were these geniuses that realized the potential of these teams? You’ll be surprised; it was the Hollywood’s elite!

Movie studio CEOs, producers, and stars are among the founding partners of the organization Step Up to Cancer, or SU2C. SU2C is responsible for advancing cancer research by forcing doctors and scientists to play nice. Then even do it in a uniquely Hollywood way, throwing crazy amounts of money at it.

How crazy? So far, $137 million!

SU2C stands behind the belief that having three larger teams studying three kinds of cancer will provide better results faster than 12 individuals who study 12 different types of cancer.

The collaborations promote teamwork instead of competition. The teams are judged on their results instead of the number of papers they publish.

And that’s all well intentioned, I’m sure, but how many of these teams will be working on NATURAL cures? How many “dream teams” will be considering the FACT that all cancer is caused by our own immune system going haywire, and that to win this war with a frontal assault is like winning a war against our own bodies?

Nothing has really changed. We’re still using tanks and infantry when special forces are what’s needed (I explain these in my DVD, The CURE.)

I’m tired of seeing stories like this make the front page while natural ways of healing cancer are kept hidden. When was the last time you heard a story about a person curing their cancer with natural substances?

Big Pharma is portrayed as the leading champion in the war against cancer. I don’t know why. If they were a sports team, they would have the worst record of all time. 95% of their new pharmaceuticals fail! That doesn’t seem hopeful to me.

Despite these shortcomings, Big Pharma would like you to think a new drug is the only possible solution to cancer. In their mind, a natural solution would be seen as a threat instead of a miracle. It would cause them to lose money, so to them it isn’t worth pursuing.

It’s time to stop cheering on Big Pharma’s false hopes to keep you on the hook. Become a fan of natural alternatives instead.

The public will continue to be fed fluff pieces otherwise. Do you want to read another story about self-appointed heroes patting themselves on the back in lieu of any real advancement? Or would you like to really cure cancer?
