The Only 3 Paths to Freedom

Jim_SamsonWe’re here because you want to be financially independent, to retire in comfort.

How are we going to do that? By making money. And then we’re going to put that money to work as efficiently as possible, but it all starts with making money, plain and simple.

So if you want to make that amount of money, how are you going to do it?

One reason why so many people never get started is that they’re simply overwhelmed by not knowing where to begin. So let me clarify things by stating the simple fact that there are only 5 legal ways to make the amount of money you need to retire by the deadline you made in your Freedom Promise (and being employed or self-employed isn’t one of them!):

1. Win the lottery.
2. Receive a large inheritance or gift.
3. Stock market.
4. Real estate.
5. Your own business (but not self-employed).

Winning the lottery and receiving an inheritance are out of your control, so that only leaves 3 (in bold). That’s it, that’s all there is, just those 3 moneymaking methods, like it or not. And I suggest you use all 3. If you own one home or more then you believe in real estate. If you pay into a pension fund then you already believe in the stock market (yep, all that money goes there!). If you rely on a paycheck then you already believe in business, but it’s not your business! So you’re already invested in the only 3 paths available to you, but not in a way that will lead to a rapid retirement.

Let me ask you a simple question:

It’s a coin-toss. Heads you make $60, tails you lose $10. Will you play? And if so, for how many coin-tosses?

Think very carefully before answering…

Why do I ask that question? Because getting that question right is the key to succeeding in business, real estate, and especially the stock market.

So will you play this game? If not, you simply cannot reach retirement because you will be unable to make the money you need. Remember, there are only 3 ways to do it, and each of them will require you to play a game similar to this coin toss because each of them have an element of risk…

The trick is to make the downside as small as possible and the upside as large as possible, just like that coin-toss game.

To answer correctly, let’s quite literally consider both sides of the coin. Obviously, a coin-toss is a 50/50 deal: there is a 50% chance the coin lands on heads, and a 50% chance the coin lands on tails. This is also known as a 1 in 2 chance of success.

Now, playing games of 50/50 odds like this isn’t something I would do or would ask you to do. Games like this are nothing more than gambling and rightfully belong in a casino. BUT, and this is the key, although this coin toss may have an equal chance of going against you as it does going for you, the reward for each of the two outcomes is drastically different: $60 win and $10 loss.

And that’s why we play. Most importantly, we ONLY play if we can find coin-tosses with rewards like this one: with a much smaller downside than the upside.

Now, if we accept that there’s as much chance of the coin landing on heads as landing on tails, we can make an intelligent guess that ten coin tosses would get a result similar to 5 tosses on heads, and 5 tosses on tails, right? I know that’s just the theory, but it’s a very sound one. Though the actual number would vary from one set of ten tosses to another, on balance it would end up being a 50/50 split as bad luck and good luck eventually cancel each other out. So here’s how ten coin tosses might look, with the result shown next to each one:

1. Tails $-10
2. Tails $-10
3. Tails $-10
4. Heads $60
5. Tails -$10
6. Heads $60
7. Tails -$10
8. Heads $60
9. Heads $60
10. Heads $60

Result: $300 win (5x$60), $50 loss (5x$10), so net win is $250.

Looks good, right? But take a look back at that demonstration. Ask yourself honestly by putting yourself in that actual situation: how would you have felt after the first three coin tosses where you lost $10 for three straight tosses? Would you have given up? Many people would have, but you would have been foolish to do so if you understood what’s going on here- the upside outweighs the downside by a factor of 6 to 1!

Still unsure about playing this game? Think about it another way: you LOST the coin toss for 50% of the time and yet you ended up with a profit of $250! How is this magic trick possible? Simply because the downside was small and limited, and the upside was large.

The question should NOT be whether you’d love to play this game over and over or not. The question should be how you could find such an incredible opportunity; where the upside outweighs the downside by such a margin. And upon finding such an opportunity, you would play it without hesitation because you know what you’re sitting on: fantastic odds.

Stay tuned for a VERY important announcement next week that goes in your favor (and will include a special gift!). We are about to expand The Midas Legacy into covering ALL THREE of these paths to retirement…

Best
Jim.
