4 Phrases that Happy People Use

If money isn’t the key to happiness (and we know that’s a highly debated saying), then what is?

I don’t know if we’ll ever have a definitive answer, but the least we can do is take a look at happy people and ask:

What are they doing differently?

Well, as you know I’m constantly studying people to find the best methods for wealth, health, and happiness, and I’ve recently discovered 4 phrases that happy people use.

Try adding them in your daily life and watch your happiness tick upward…

1. “Thank you”

We’ll start with an obvious one…

Showing appreciation has been proven to improve the overall mood of both you and the person on the receiving end.

It can quickly build on a small act and grow a relationship on something as simple as one person holding a door open for another.

Say thank you (and actually mean it), then use that positive environment you’ve created to be happy and grow.

2. “So great to see you”

Many emotions are contagious, and happiness is no exception. So, a significant part of making yourself happy is found in helping make the people around you happy.

Instead of the generic “Hello,” show someone that it’s genuinely nice to have them there by saying something along the lines of, “so great to see you.” This will help put the other person in a better mood, and that will stimulate the positive environment you want.

3. “I’m so proud/excited that you did XYZ”

Joy and happiness should be byproducts of achievements, but often people will see other people’s accomplishments and try to compare their own accomplishments, which removes any joy from the situation.

Instead, celebrate the accomplishments of your friends and family. The recipient will feel great about it, you will feel better, and that person will be more likely to do the same for you. Let happiness lead to more happiness.

4. “I used your advice”

One easy way to show people you appreciate them is to take their suggestions and advice seriously. It shows that you care what they have to say, and that will make anyone happy.

That will do two things. First, it will boost the general mood of the conversation and relationship. And second, it will make the other person want to reciprocate… and that’s only going to make YOU happier!

There’s no simple roadmap to being happy, but we can make sure we’re on the right path and taking the right steps each day.

Simply saying these 4 phrases out loud won’t do anything for you unless there’s proper context and meaning.

So think about those phrases, and figure out a way to put you into situations where you can genuinely add these phrases to your daily life.

You’ll start to feel happier in no time.
