Forget exercising… This fitness hack is all you need

Obesity is often referred to as the #1 killer for Americans.

It can lead to diabetes, heart conditions, and death if you don’t jump on it soon enough.

With that said, going to the gym is a BIG ask as we all age.

Sometimes it’s just not reasonable to get to the gym every day.

That’s why I set out to find a fitness hack that lets you forget about working out…

It’s no surprise that fitness has become a multibillion-dollar industry, selling athleisure clothing, protein powders, and health supplements that promise a thousand benefits.

But the root of the success of this industry isn’t in the desire to be fit. If that were the case, we would all run for an hour a day and eat more fruits and vegetables and be done with it.

The secret to the success of the fitness industry actually lies in the desire to get fit without the work.

After all, when we’re told that the only way to stay in shape is to work out for an hour a day, what are we supposed to do?

Very few people have the time to go to the gym every single day, and even if you do, who wants to spend their limited free time getting hot, sweaty and sore?

If you’re fed up with the quick-fixes and endless struggle to be in shape, I’ve found the perfect solution.

And it doesn’t require a gym or a magic supplement. All you need is 30 minutes.

Everyone knows someone that’s in incredible shape. They are just as busy as you, and yet somehow, they manage to look like they can run a marathon.

Do you ever wonder what their secret is?

I certainly did, and what I’ve found will come as a surprise—and a huge relief.

A big part of the struggle to exercise comes from the connotation of exercise itself. When you read the word, you no doubt think of gyms, workout machines, and feeling like your lungs are going to burst.

Not exactly a positive image.

Now, some people love the challenge of the traditional work-out. But, if you’re like me, the dull and painful repetition of gym exercise makes you way less inclined to keep up with a workout routine.

This negative connotation with physical exercise is compounded by the industry telling us we need to workout for an hour a day, or two hours a day. We’re told that we need to do hundreds of reps and that we need to eat perfectly every day.

And honestly, who has time for that?

But it turns out, all those universal rules of getting fit are no more than urban legends.

You can stay in shape, and even lose weight and gain muscle, with only 30 minutes of moderate activity a day. That’s right—activity, not exercise.

Because you don’t have to go to the gym to work your muscles and improve your cardio. You can do whatever you want!

It’s true, pumping iron and running laps is a great way to burn calories and increase health, but it’s not the only way to be healthy.

Just by following your daily routine, you may be working towards your physical activity requirements for staying in shape.

For example, mowing the lawn is actually better for you than jogging a mile. Washing your car is as good for you as 20 minutes of yoga, and biking for 30 minutes is better for you than jogging for 30 minutes.

The key to being healthy: don’t exercise, just get active.

If exercise is something you dread, you’ll never keep up with it. To keep up a healthy regimen, your daily workout has to be something you look forward to, not something you have to add to your list of things to do.

Staying in shape should be a stress reliever and a joy each day.

All you have to do is choose an activity that you love and stick to doing it for 150 minutes a week. You can split that into 30 minutes for 5 days a week, or 50 minutes 3 times a week—it doesn’t matter! Just as long as you get those minutes in one way or another.

If you want a few ideas on how to get active without reverting to the purgatory of the gym, consider basketball, dancing, fishing, or even gardening.

Basketball burns a whopping 260 calories in 30 minutes, while dancing burns 130, fishing burns 115, and gardening burns 150!

You could also play golf (burning 110 calories in 30 minutes) or go horseback riding (250 calories). Ice skating and roller skating burn 315 calories every 30 minutes, and rock-climbing burns 250.

Some other great activities include rowing (380 calories), squash (325 calories), tennis (260 calories), swimming (250 calories), and even walking, which burns 150 calories in 30 minutes at a rate of 3 miles an hour.

So whatever your hobby is, it’s time to get to it! It doesn’t matter what it is, so long as it gets your body moving.

If you keep with your daily activity and add in healthier eating, you could see yourself losing weight and ‘getting toned’ just as well as all the poor saps still going to the gym!
