I’m going confirm something very obvious: Success does NOT happen overnight.
Sure, windfalls can happen overnight if you’re trading the right stocks or making the right business moves, but one windfall doesn’t equal success.
With that being said, you should take your success step-by-step and build a sustainable success foundation.
There’s a simple way to hold yourself accountable to that to make sure it happens…
Here’s how.
There’s a simple tool we’ve all used in the past that gets thrown out the window when we’re focusing on our own personal successes.
The Resume.
99% of people think of their resume as something they maintain to get a new job.
While it’s certainly a must-have when applying for jobs (and it was created for that purpose), it can actually be used to hold you accountable for your own personal success.
I like to call this the Internal Success Resume.
It will be seen by nobody but you.
It takes a lot of concentration to use this method to your advantage, but if you want to be successful, it’s a must.
Here’s how to start…
At the end of every quarter (now’s the perfect time as we’ve just ended Q1 of 2022), create an internal resume of all the accomplishments you’ve completed since the previous quarter.
Put the same energy into it as you would a job resume.
The main point here is to impress yourself – or motivate yourself to do better this quarter.
Make sure you wear two “hats” while doing this.
The first one being the person trying to impress. And everything obviously has to be truthful as you’re only lying to yourself if not.
The second hat being the one scrutinizing the resume and seeing where it can be made better the next quarter.
This Internal Success Resume holds you accountable, and lets you see your accomplishments and shortfalls in 1st and 3rd person.
Commit to this for the next 4 quarters, then look back over the year and review all the successes you’ve forced yourself to accomplish.
Before you know it, you’ll have the best Internal Success Resume around.
