Best retirement advice you’ll ever get

Jim_SamsonI’ve needed guidance in my life just as everyone needs guidance at one time or another. And a bit of help is never more important than when it comes to retirement.

You only get 1 chance to prepare for retirement, so why not heed the words of people who’ve been there, done that, and experienced it all?

Over the years, I’ve collected retirement advice from various people, and now I want to share it with you now…

One thing that normally takes awhile for most people to realize is that retirement isn’t just about 1 thing. It’s not just about have a certain amount of money by the time you get to a certain age.

It’s about how you can get there by being smart, enjoying the ride there, realizing you have options, understanding that retirement isn’t ‘the end’, and so much more.

So here’s retirement advice I’ve heard of the years that could help you enjoy a better retirement, and possibly even get you there faster:

Invest as much as you can as early as you can.

I’ve found that to be great advice, but of course there are different levels of success when investing. I’ve been able to use some of the best strategies that we offer here at The Midas Legacy to turn the stock market into a secondary income stream for myself, and there’s no reason why you couldn’t do the same thing when you use the same tools.

Invest in real estate because they aren’t making any more land.

Real estate has been another source of income for me, so I can stand by this piece of advice as well. And I can tell you from experience that it doesn’t have to be as difficult as many people make it out to be, but that’s a topic for another day.

Have a plan for retired life.

I’ve heard story after story about people working hard for their entire lives to get to retirement, but when they finally arrive their, they don’t know how to handle the life of a retiree. One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever heard is to plan a retirement life.

All that really means is to understand what you want to do in retirement, and prepare for it accordingly. And stay active, both physically and socially. Volunteer, join different groups, find a place to live with people who have similar interests.

The last thing you want to do is get to retirement and begin living an unfulfilling life.

Never retire.

This is a unique bit of advice that I think will only suit select people, but important nonetheless. Some men and women simply aren’t designed to ‘stop working’, so don’t feel like it’s unnatural if you don’t want to leave your career.

As I mentioned in the last bit of advice, retirement is about living a fulfilling life. If part of that is continuing your career and staying at work, so be it.
