The only ingredient you need this cold season…

If you’re anything like me, the older you get the harder it is to fend off whatever cold or “bug” is going around.

It’s gotten to the point where I’ve just learned to accept these inevitable sicknesses for what they are.

Perhaps you can relate… If so, then you’ve probably tried every preventative measure there is.

And even if you happened to find a medication that works for you, I’m sure it’s just as hard to pronounce the name of it as it is to get well again.

But why choose an over-the-counter bottle of pills filled with who knows what chemicals, when you already have an all-natural alternative at your disposal?

Here’s one of the oldest natural cures in the book that still holds up to this day.

Believe it or not, honey is a go-to remedy during cold season.

Whether you’re dealing with a sore throat, cough or even laryngitis, honey is a great makeshift way to battle the symptoms.

They say that drinking tea or warm water mixed with honey can work wonders for soothing a sore throat, but honey alone can serve as an effective cough suppressant as well.

The science is even there to back this up!

One study, conducted on children with upper respiratory tract infections, showed that honey not only reduced nighttime coughing, but improved sleep after being administered before bed.

In fact, the results showed that honey appeared to be just as effective as dextromethorphan, a common cough suppressant ingredient used in popular medications like Dayquil and Robitussin.

While side effects of consuming honey are almost unheard of, dextromethorphan is known to cause vomiting, diarrhea and dizziness…

I think it’s fair to say that honey is the safer option.

Still, if that’s not enough to win you over then maybe the cost will. Side-by-side, honey is far cheaper than any other medication you’ll find on the shelves.

On top of that, it’s widely available. You can pick up a bottle of honey at just about any store that sells food products.

It just goes to show that the healthier choice isn’t always pricier.

The next time you’re dealing with an annoying cold or cough, don’t be so quick to go for the over-the-counter medication.

Give the all-natural healing effects of honey a shot and see how it works for you personally.

You may be surprised by the results you find…
