The best time to buy a house

Jim_SamsonWhether it’s going to help you in a few weeks or a few years, I’m going to share some wisdom with you that could wind up saving you thousands upon thousands of dollars.

And it’s all about timing.

We’re coming up on the very best time of the year to buy a house, so make sure have this knowledge securely in hand when you’re making one of the biggest decisions of your life…

If you get it wrong, buying a house can be devastating to your finances and make life a lot harder. But if you do it right, buying a house can be everything you dreamed of and more.

Today I’m giving you the advantage of knowing precisely when to make an offer on the house you want.

So if you can, try to make an offer on Christmas Day.

That probably sounds a bit weird, but hear me out…

1. Christmas puts most people in a good and generous mood, meaning this is the day that gives you the best chance for the seller to come down in price.

2. December is normally the twelve-month low for home prices, and you may even get lucky with the seller becoming desperate as the year is coming to a close.

3. This is the time of year when sellers are serious, so a good offer (that’s advantageous for you, of course) will be strongly considered.

Obviously a big component of this will be having a real estate agent willing to work on Christmas Day. Make sure he or she is willing to do so before choosing one.

But if you can’t get an offer in on Christmas Day, aim for the month of January.

This is the time of year when the weather is a bit nastier in most places, so you’ll have less competition and you’ll be dealing with a seller who has chosen to go ahead and put his or her house on the market during a time when it won’t show as well.

When you put as much as possible in your favor, you give yourself a better chance of getting a great deal.
