Everyone has a skill, talent, ability, or passion that separates them from most other people in the world.
Whether you think this pertains to you or not, it does. And you could be able to easily profit from that skill, talent, ability, or passion right now.
How? In these 3 steps…
Are you good at coming up with names or slogans? Do you have a knack for coming up with introductions? Do you have a good speaking voice, or can you do unique voices?
There are literally thousands of things that you may be able to do, and each one could get you paid if you know where to go and how to present yourself.
So here are the 3 steps to profiting from something you can do…
1. Find 1 or more of your talents, skills, abilities, or passions.
Let me get you started with just a few ideas that you may pertain to you (but this is not even close to the complete list of things you could get paid for):
- Can you draw or paint?
- Do you know how to create digital images?
- Can you read a script in a certain voice?
- Do you know how to put together a business plan?
- Can you create a presentation?
- Do you know how to operate something on computers or the Internet that people might need help with?
- Can you cook or bake?
- Do you enjoy writing song lyrics?
- Can you create a logo?
- Do you have any musical talent? Technical talent?
I could go on and on. But pick out at least 1 thing that you can do or really enjoy doing.
2. Create something you can sell
If you like to cook, would you be willing to put together a unique set of healthy chicken recipes? Or perhaps you know the secret to grilling anything to perfection, and you can give anyone advice.
Create a product or service and decide how much it’s worth. Testing should be a big part of this.
Simply take your talent and find a way to make it into a sellable item, service, etc.
Will you come up with a logo design in 24 hours for $50? Can you create/revise a resume in 2 hours for $20 each. Could you record a voiceover of a script for $5 per 200 words?
If you can do that with your talent, skill, passion, or ability, you could be making money now…
3. Put it on a site, such as Fiverr.com
Luckily, sites like Fiverr give us a chance to pretty easily sell our “thing”.
So if you have a sellable “thing” for whatever your talent, etc. is, you should be able to find a home for it pretty easily online, and the final piece of the puzzle is making it presentable.
Let’s go with the voiceover example and say we’re putting our service on Fiverr.com. What we want to do to stand out is specialize and/or provide more than everyone else.
Obviously, top-notch service should be a given, but not everyone provides it, so that could help you stand out as well and earn repeat customers.
But back to specializing and giving customers more…
Instead of just saying, “I will do a pro voiceover for you for $5 per 200 words.” You could say something like, “I will give you a professional voiceover in x, y, and z accents.” Or, “I will do a voiceover, edit it, and match it to your video product.”
Anything like that will help you stand out.
Perhaps an easier way is to give the customer more. So if we look at Fiverr.com and see what other voiceover artists are offering, we see that most of them do a voiceover at the rate of $5 per 200 words (which is what we originally planned).
That’s OK, we can easily do ours for $5 per 150 words instead.
While this would obviously net us less per customer, it also gives us a much better chance to gain more clients because many people are looking for the best deal.
Of course, this is just 1 example, but you can use these principles to make money with whatever your talent, ability, skill, or passion is!
